Lombard Odier named world’s best private bank in two categories at the 2025 Euromoney Awards
Lombard Odier is honoured to have been one of the major winners at the recent 2025 Euromoney Private Banking Awards in London. Euromoney’s research team, along with a panel of industry experts, recognised our core wealth management expertise and business success with prizes in 13 categories, including two prestigious awards for the World’s Best Chief Investment Office and the World’s Best for Succession Planning.
World’s best private bank for Chief Investment Office and succession planning expertise
As a Chief Investment Office, our mission is to deliver the best possible investment performance for our clients. We’re proud to have won Euromoney’s award for the World’s Best Chief Investment Office in recognition of the investment strategy, offering and advice that enable us to succeed in that mission.
“We want to be a trusted partner for our clients, and a global leading investment house for them. The world, global economy and financial markets are undergoing historic shifts. Looking forward, careful risk management and vigilance are more than ever essential to navigate these volatilities. We can rely on a strong House View to continue to add value to our clients’ portfolios. We’re active investment managers, delivering excellence for our clients by combining global knowledge with local expertise and offerings. This award also recognises our Chief Investment Office’s ‘total wealth approach’ to constructing portfolios, which aims to harness the potential of both public and private markets and an innovative mindset to deliver successful investments for our clients.
“Our ‘total wealth’ approach helps to set up clients for long-term investment success. This is even more important in today’s disruptive environments. We’re always looking at our investment offering strategically so that we can reflect changing realities, and most importantly, build on a wide range of sources of return. To achieve this, private assets are key, where we have developed a sophisticated investment offering that can meet the needs of our clients and their increased demand for solutions.” Marc Giesbrecht,Deputy Global CIO, Head of Investment Management
Euromoney’s award for World’s Best Chief Investment Office also recognises our developments over the past year as we continue to strengthen as a global investment management organisation. We’ve adapted our strategic asset allocations to deliver consistently robust returns in an investment landscape that is evolving ever more rapidly, culminating in strong results across our portfolios. We’ve established a clear House View, which aims to add value and deliver total transparency to our views and portfolio positioning, creating a new global Chief Investment Office model with regional CIOs across Asia, the EMEA region and Switzerland; and implementing a new Investment Committee process. 2024 also saw the launch of our new thematic approach, rethink investments, which maps our investment convictions around the ongoing transition to a net-zero, nature-positive economy to our thematic equity exposures.
“From ongoing changes in global demographics , infrastructure, technology, and the shift to a net-zero, nature positive economic model, we have identified six high conviction investment themes. As regulators, consumers, and businesses align to accelerate the necessary transformations in a changing geopolitical and economic policy context, our approach to “rethink investments”, translates this analysis to the world of thematic investments.” Nannette Hechler-Fayd'herbe, Head Investment Strategy, Sustainability and Research, and CIO EMEA
Best private bank for succession planning – global and local
As a 229-year-old independent and privately owned company managed by a seventh generation of banker–entrepreneurs, we have a deep understanding of family business models and recognise the importance of quality succession planning, another central component of Lombard Odier’s offering. For that reason, we are delighted that Euromoney has also named Lombard Odier the world’s best private bank in this area. In addition to this global award, we are proud to have also been recognised as the best bank for succession planning for Western Europe, Switzerland and the UK. This is particularly important in today's fast-moving world, where local expertise in this field remains critical.
“At Lombard Odier, helping our clients preserve, grow and transfer wealth from one generation to the next is part of our DNA since 1796. Succession planning and family governance are at its core. We have a keen understanding of the importance of proper succession planning and family governance – in particular, its positive impact in allowing entrepreneurial families to organise, protect and pass on their family wealth to the next generation.” Adel Barakat, Global Head of Wealth Planning, Lombard Odier Group
The award recognises our integrated approach to succession planning, in which we ensure the next generation is fully included throughout the process. Our four-step approach to successful succession planning focusses on optimising the transfer of our clients’ assets to the next generation while preventing their dilution. We do this by combining our expertise in law and tax with our world-class wealth and asset management capabilities, and our global scale with local knowledge. Comprised of 60 experts in Switzerland and abroad, our stable team allows us to maintain strong relationships with our clients over multiple generations while delivering an agile, cohesive service that distinguishes our succession planning from other private banks.
“Our approach in achieving this is deeply personal and bespoke, and revolves around a strong collaboration between our 60 wealth planners, based across multiple jurisdictions, who work closely with our investment experts and bankers in each of our offices worldwide. Based on our extensive experience, we believe in a holistic approach that fully includes future generations, combining our legal and tax expertise with proven asset management capabilities.
This long-lasting commitment to our clients through generations allows us to best serve the large international families that form a core part of our client base, and is an approach that sets us apart.” Stanislas Peel, Global Head of Wealth Planning, Lombard Odier Group
