BREEAM is one of the most prestigious international sustainability certifications for buildings. Its assessment framework measures a building’s sustainable value across a range of categories covering key factors such as low impact design, carbon emissions reduction, design durability and resilience, climate change adaptation, as well as ecological value and biodiversity protection.
Ebba Lepage, Group Head of Corporate Sustainability, adds: “Achieving the highest score in the demanding BREEAM certification recognises our pursuit of excellence in delivering this building. Whether in the use of materials, energy sourcing, circularity, employee well being, or the integration of green technologies to reduce our carbon footprint, we strove to embed best practice at the heart of our operations.”

The building is designed to minimise energy and water consumption: it is connected to Geneva’s GeniLac network, which uses water from Lake Geneva to heat and cool the building. The roof is equipped with 750m² of solar panels, and 85% of its surface is covered with vegetation, helping to cool the air beneath the panels, thereby reducing heat absorption and increasing their efficiency. Rainwater is collected in a 400m³ basin and used for sanitary facilities. The position of the headquarters allows it to be cooled in summer by winds along the lake, while deep balconies help reduce window exposure to direct sunlight.
With spectacular views of Lake Geneva and the Alps, 1Roof offers an exceptional working environment for its employees. The lake facing areas are dedicated to clients and staff, allowing everyone to benefit from the extraordinary natural surroundings. The building features two collaborative spaces of 1,000m² facing the lake, available to all employees for interaction and teamwork. The expansive workspaces are organised into modern, welcoming open plan areas, with great attention paid to acoustics. Several meeting rooms of various sizes, equipped with state of the art technology, are also available on each of the building’s seven floors.
Ideally located at the heart of Geneva’s transport network, the headquarters is just minutes from the city centre and close to the airport. Designed to facilitate mobility, and particularly soft mobility, it features over 400 bicycle spaces. It is easily accessible by car, bicycle, or train, and even by boat thanks to the CGN connection between Corsier and Bellevue.
