During our last Rethink Perspectives event, we had the privilege of meeting at the Chandoline Hydraulic Power Station, an iconic location in the Sion landscape, which hosted the Biennale Son – the largest contemporary art fair in Switzerland in autumn. In this unique setting, Jean-Paul Felley, curator and director of the Biennale, shared his vision of an art that challenges our ways of listening, perceiving, and feeling, in resonance with the history of the building and the artworks on display. This moment of artistic reflection also provided an opportunity to address the major economic issues of the moment. @Serge Fehr, Head of the Swiss Domestic Region at Lombard Odier, and @Samy Chaar, PhD, Chief Economist and CIO Switzerland, outlined the driving forces behind this changing regime: the end of a cycle of American outperformance, Europe’s inertia, and a return to the role of the State as a buffer in times of crisis. In this context, is the current slowdown at risk of turning into a recession? Does Europe have the means to reclaim its sovereignty in key sectors such as energy, technology and defence? And, above all, how should portfolios be structured in today’s unstable, fragmented world? These questions were addressed with clarity and commitment, in a place where industrial heritage and contemporary creativity converge to fuel reflection.
