UK Tech Awards - real estate disruptor Purplebricks wins key prize at UK Tech Awards
As befits a bank founded and built by entrepreneurs, Lombard Odier remains driven by the same independent spirit. That is why the Group decided to play a leading role at this year's UK Tech Awards, a showpiece of British innovation in the technology sector.
Lombard Odier sponsored the prize for “best use of technology in the digital economy”. The award picked out companies that have best harnessed the power of online tools such as mobile, social media, the cloud and Big Data to enhance and transform business models.
The winner was revealed at a ceremony on 1 November, 2018 with real estate company Purplebricks scooping the top prize.

The online estate agent was founded in 2012 and has rapidly grabbed market share from established players by using internet tools to underpin a flat-fee business model that has shaken up the industry.
The company was selected from a shortlist which included online food delivery company Deliveroo, e-commere group The Hut Group and digital bank Revolut.
Lombard Odier was also part of the UK Tech Awards judging panel, which saw a 20-strong panel of experts from the tech, private equity and corporate finance sectors examine hundreds of entries across the categories.

Among other awards, the prize for tech company of the year went to Ocado Group plc.
