LOMBARD ODIER CELEBRATES SINGAPORE’S 50TH ANNIVERSARY
To honour Singapore's 50th anniversary, Lombard Odier held a Pioneers event at the exclusive Capella Hotel on 28 and 29 October 2015. About 250 guests attended, including clients, entrepreneurs and family business members.
In panel discussions, entrepreneurs shared their personal stories and trials of starting and maintaining a business. They discussed the complications of family dynamics and estate planning.
CEOs, venture capitalists and academics discussed the future of Singapore as a business hub and highlighted the buzz surrounding startups, particularly Internet and tech-related firms.
Managing Partner Hugo Bänziger said the values of innovation, adaption and resilience in a changing world were key to Lombard Odier's success.
"Entrepreneurship is in our DNA, it's in our history, he said. “And we want to help other like-minded individuals achieve the same goals."
Minimising drawdowns in times of crisis
During the two-day programme, Mr Bänziger talked about Lombard Odier’s innovative investment solutions, designed to safeguard assets in a low yield and volatile environment.
“While the bank might not always be able to generate the highest returns for clients, it can ensure relatively low portfolio volatility,” he said. “This gives clients a lot more firepower to draw on during a crisis.”
Meanwhile, Vincent Magnenat, Lombard Odier's head of Private Banking in Asia, underscored the importance of Asia to the global business.
"2014 has been the best year to date for the development of Lombard Odier’s private banking business in Asia, and 2015 is set to be another solid year," he said.
"We want to continue on the same track, grow our business based on our value proposition, and continue to develop partnerships with local banks in the region."
Managing partner Anne-Marie de Weck spoke about Lombard Odier’s family business traditions and survival over six generations to an intimate group of private dinner guests.
The event also included a gathering for clients and prospects to listen to a panel discussion on global insights moderated by Asia head, Vincent Duhamel.
