Experiential visit
Heritage house discovery

Wednesday, 31 October 2018
Tokyo

Discover how Sonoda House is a perfect prototype of post-World War II western architectural influences impacting the construction of traditional Japanese wooden houses. The introduction of this design can be attributed to the architect Junzo Yoshimura in 1955.

Courtesy of Heritage House Trust, its objective is the conservation of prestigious private residences throughout Japan that have been passed down the generations. In a society where few residential homes can be preserved, this is a rare opportunity to witness the durability of specialized architectural techniques and how they can create unique environments that have captured and retained their original way of life.

There will be live musical accompaniment from a non-profit organization during the tour, and linked with Heritage Houses Trust.
