Rethinking the Future - 30th Asia Anniversary Celebration

Over the last two centuries, at Lombard Odier, we have never ceased to pre-empt change and adapt to the times. Today, we have developed into a leading, global business and are proud to celebrate three decades in Asia.

Our signature event had over 200 clients and business associates from across Asia to rethink the future together during a forum in Singapore. Our Senior Managing Partner Patrick Odier opened the event alongside Asia CEO Vincent Magnenat. Both speakers focused on Lombard Odier’s evolution from its beginnings in Geneva over 221 years ago to its foray into Asia three decades earlier, when it began to support its global clients’ needs from the region. Over time, we have become a go-to wealth manager for institutional and private banking clients.

“Just as the founding families of Lombard Odier analysed the world around them to constantly challenge the status quo, so will we continue to do so,” said Mr. Odier.

“As we celebrate three decades of operations in Asia, we look forward to embracing rapid technological and societal changes to further enrich the way we accompany our clients in this region and around the world.”

Discussions were led by prominent academics, business owners and leaders who shared their views on Rethinking Humanity and Rethinking Business in the context of the Fourth Industrial Revolution. The panellists focused on the fusion of technologies blurring the lines between the physical, digital and biological spheres and the emergence of technological breakthroughs in fields such as artificial intelligence.

Member of the World Economic Forum’s Global Future Council on the Future of Digital Economy and Society, Dr. David Dean, described the ways in which the Fourth Industrial Revolution was expected to transform business, government and society and what could be done to ensure that the benefits are maximised and that the risks are minimised.

The debates did not end there. Business owners and investors then assessed the ways in which they planned to capture technological trends to thrive in the medium to long term in a lively discussion facilitated by Economist Intelligence Unit Global Chief Economist Simon Baptist.

At Lombard Odier, we believe in the power of artificial intelligence and in the creative role humans will play in the future so we aspire and aim for a sustainable, smooth shift for our business, our clients and for humanity as a whole.
